Parts made to your drawing

We make parts to your drawing, from a few prototype pieces to tens of thousands of parts in scheduled batches. If your part is not listed, send the drawing and we will tell you plainly whether we can make it.

3.1

CNC machining (milling, turning)

Milled and turned parts in metal and plastic: housings, holders, plates, pins, shafts and small mechanical parts. Most of our RFQs are CNC parts, so this is where our factories and our team have the most experience.

  • Turning for pins, shafts, rings and round holders, including knurling and small hobbed teeth
  • Deep pockets, tapped holes, engraving after anodizing, and re-machining after coating to keep contact faces bare
  • Aluminum, stainless steel (for example 316 and 316L), other steels, copper and technical plastics
  • From about 10 first-article pieces to production lots of thousands, with repeat orders in scheduled batches

Sheet metal and stamping, including tooling

Brackets, panels, covers and enclosures cut, bent, welded and riveted to your drawing. Where volumes justify it, parts are stamped with dies made for your part. Tooling and fixtures are part of the quote, not a surprise later.

  • Laser cutting, press-brake bending, welding, and press-fit hardware (PEM-type nuts and studs)
  • Riveting and welding fixtures made for the job, so repeat batches match the first
  • Aluminum sheet (for example H32 temper), steel and stainless steel; anodizing, painting and silk-screen printing
  • From prototype sets to production batches; tooling projects typically about 90 days to first samples

Plastic parts and injection molds

Plastic parts machined, cast or injection molded, depending on quantity. For low volumes we machine or vacuum-cast the part. For production we make an injection mold for your part and agree gate, ejector and contact points with you before the mold is cut.

  • CNC-machined plastic parts for prototypes and small batches
  • Vacuum casting in silicone molds for short runs
  • Injection molding, with the mold made for your part
  • Technical plastics, for example ABS and glass-filled PA66; painting and texture to your sample
  • Typical mold projects take about 90 days to first samples; production quantities from hundreds to thousands

Custom springs

Springs made to your drawing by a specialist spring maker in our network, not taken from a catalog. Each shipment comes with a material report and an inspection sheet.

  • Compression and extension springs, including standard and custom end loops
  • Load, length and diameter checked against your drawing
  • Material report and inspection sheet with each shipment
  • From prototype quantities to production lots

Jigs and fixtures

Fixtures for your own production, assembly or inspection, made to your drawing or to a concept we agree with you. The same factories make the fixtures they use for our sheet-metal and welded parts.

  • Machined base plates, locating pins, clamps and nests
  • Welding and riveting fixtures
  • Aluminum and steel, with hardened wear parts where needed
  • Single fixtures or small sets

3.6

Wire EDM (wire cutting)

Wire cutting for profiles that milling cannot reach: sharp inside corners, narrow slots, and parts in hardened steel. Often used for punch and die parts and for fixture components.

  • Through-profiles with sharp inside corners and narrow slots
  • Hardened tool steel and other conductive metals
  • Punch, die and fixture parts, and small precision profiles

EVA and custom packaging

Packaging made for your part or product: foam inserts that hold each part in place, cases, and printed boxes. It protects functional and cosmetic surfaces in transit and can be the retail packaging for your product.

  • Printed boxes, including magnetic closures and your artwork
  • Protective films cut to your DXF
  • Packing and labeling to your instructions

Assemblies and kits

When your product uses parts from several processes, we can bring them together. We agree the scope and the checks for each assembly with you before we quote.

  • Riveted and welded sheet-metal assemblies
  • Kits of matching metal and plastic parts, painted to match, with protective films and gaskets fitted
  • Each kit packed and labeled as one unit

Materials

Specific grades are set by your drawing. If a grade is hard to get in China, we tell you before quoting and propose an alternative for your approval.

4.2

Finishes and treatments

Finishes are usually done by specialist shops that work with the factory. Coating contact points and masked areas are agreed with you before production.

  • Anodizing, including black
  • Black oxide
  • Passivation
  • PVD coating
  • Heat treatment and hardening
  • Painting (PU and epoxy)
  • Silk-screen printing
  • Other finishes on request

Quantities and lead times

Typical quantities and times
StageTypical quantityTypical time
Prototypes and first articlesA few pieces, often about 10Stated in each quote
ProductionHundreds to tens of thousands of parts, in scheduled batchesAbout 30 days from PO, typically
Tooling projects (molds, dies)From first samples to seriesAbout 90 days to first samples, typically

Times are typical and depend on the part, the finish and the quantity. They do not include shipping. Factories in China close for several weeks around Chinese New Year (January or February), so plan orders around it.

Not sure we can make it?

Send the drawing. We will tell you if it fits our factories, and if it doesn't, we will say so.
