Custom jigs and fixtures to your drawing

Fixtures for your own production, assembly or inspection, manufactured to your drawing or to a concept we agree with you in writing. The same partner factories build the fixtures they use for our sheet-metal and welded parts, and this work forms part of their regular production.

Fixture types

  • Machining fixtures

Base plates, nests and clamps that hold your part repeatably on a machine table.

  • Welding fixtures

Frames and locators that hold sheet-metal parts in position during welding and control distortion.

  • Riveting and assembly fixtures

Nests and stops that keep rivets flush and parts aligned, batch after batch.

  • Inspection fixtures

Go/no-go and checking fixtures that allow your incoming inspection to check a part quickly.

Tolerances and inspection

Tolerances come from your drawing and specification. Your drawings go to the production engineers of the factory selected for your part. If a tolerance or a feature cannot be held, we raise it before production, and any change to the drawing is confirmed and approved by you in writing. Production is to the drawing.

Fixtures are manufactured to your drawing. Locating pins, nests and datum faces are inspected and reported, because they decide the accuracy of every part the fixture holds.

If you send a concept rather than a drawing, the fixture drawing is agreed with you in writing before manufacture.

Inspection and documents

The factory inspects each order to your drawing or QC sheet and supplies a report. Our team in China then carries out an independent quality verification at the factory, after production and before the goods are released, and the packing is photographed. Where you specify 100% inspection, every part is inspected. Where first articles are required, series production is released only after your written confirmation. Material reports or certificates are supplied where your drawing or PO requires them.

Design notes

  1. Engineering note

    Fixtures for assembly steps.

Riveting, pressing and bonding steps are repeatable when the part is held in a fixture built for it. State which assembly steps need one, and it is included in the quotation.

  2. Engineering note

    Harden all wear parts.

Locating pins and wear plates touch every part. Specify their hardness and make them replaceable.

  3. Engineering note

    Mark the datums.

Show which faces and pins define the part position, so they are inspected and reported.

What to send for a quote

  • Fixture drawing, or the part drawing and a sketch of the concept
  • The part it holds, with its datums
  • Materials and hardness of wear parts
  • Quantity of fixtures

Send to or@paxis-hk.com. The RFQ checklist explains each item.

Questions

Can you design a fixture from my part drawing?

A concept is agreed with you and drawn by the factory. You approve the fixture drawing in writing before it is manufactured.

Do you build fixtures for parts you also produce?

Yes. Welding and riveting fixtures for our sheet-metal assemblies are built by the same factories.
