Preparing a drawing package for quotation

A complete drawing package gets a right-first-time quote and avoids questions later. This is the checklist we work from. Send the package by email to or@paxis-hk.com.

01Checklist

What to send

  • Drawing as PDFWith all tolerances, the revision letter and the general tolerance standard you work to.
  • 3D modelSTEP if you have one. The PDF remains the master unless you specify otherwise.
  • MaterialGrade and temper or hardness. State whether an equivalent grade is acceptable.
  • FinishProcess, color and thickness; mark faces that must stay bare or be masked.
  • QuantitiesFirst articles, first batch and expected yearly volume, so that each quantity can be priced.
  • Critical dimensionsCircle them, or send your QC sheet. These are inspected and reported.
  • Documents you needInspection report, first-article report, material certificate.
  • Your NDAIf an NDA is required before drawings are sent, please send it first.

02Master file

PDF or STEP?

STEP files are welcome for programming and mold design. Where the PDF drawing and the model disagree, the PDF and its revision letter govern, unless you specify otherwise. For flat patterns and printing, state whether the DXF or the PDF is the master.

03Revisions

Revision control

Put the revision letter on every drawing and in the file name. When a drawing changes after the quotation, send the new revision with the changes marked. Production runs to the revision on your PO.

04Quantities

Price breaks

Give the quantities you want priced: first articles, first batch and expected yearly volume. Tooled parts and setups price very differently at 10, 500 and 5,000 pieces.

06Confidentiality

NDA first, if you need one

If you need an NDA signed before you send drawings, send it first. We sign it on request. Drawings travel by email only and go only to the factory selected for your part. Password-protected files are welcome; send the password separately.

07QC sheet

Your QC sheet

If you inspect incoming parts to a QC sheet, send it with the drawing. The factory inspects to it and our team verifies to it, so the reports you receive match the checks your incoming inspection makes.

Request a quotation

Send your drawings with quantities, material and finish. Drawing questions are raised before the quotation, and the quotation is issued by PAXIS in US dollars.
